Babolat Tennis Racquets

Pierre Babolat, the founder of the company, started Babolat in 1875 but only as a tennis strings manufacturer. It was in 1994 when the company produced the first Babolat tennis racquets and since then it has never looked back. While relatively new in the industry, they have made a huge impact on the circuit.

Babolat tennis strings were accepted by stars like Bjorn Borg years before their tennis racquets. The first major star to use their tennis racquets winning a Grand Slam was Carlos Moya. The Babolat Pure Drive brand became world famous as a result.

3 Babolat Tennis Racquet Brands

1) Babolat Pure Aero Racquets

So, you say you want more spin out of your tennis racquet. The Babolat Pure Aero was designed for you and guess who has his fingerprints all over this series.

If you guessed Rafael Nadal, you are correct. His need for great spin in his game was the genesis for this entire lineup of tennis racquets. More spin allows a player to take big swings generating extra power at the point of contact with the ball.

Of course, the average tennis player can't really use HIS Pure Aero. Instead, Babolat has shrewdly made a Pure Aero for intermediate and advanced players.

The news is also good for beginners who want to use Pure Aero but need spin to create a bit more control. A "Lite" version is specifically made for new players and the beginner who wants to play this style of the modern game.

2) Pure Drive Series

If you wanted to summarize the Pure Drive series into a single word, it is power. The beginner who needs more power. The intermediate and advanced players who want a tennis racquet with controllable power.

Maybe you have decided you need a bigger sweet spot to get power and spin even on off center shots. If so, these are the Babolat tennis racquets with a bigger head size and are a solid choice for your tennis racquets.

Some players want a bit more length on their tennis rackets. The Pure Drive has a great racquet for you too. For every player who wants easy power added to their game allowing them to hit a heavy ball to dictate points, most game styles will benefit from these tennis rackets.

3) Pure Strike Series

The Babolat Pure Strike series is the right racquet for players who crave control. These tennis racquets give you the confidence that comes from pinpoint control.

The Pure Strike features a frame with optimum aerodynamics for a swing that demands great feel to put the ball anywhere on the court to win the match. Beginners who struggle to keep the ball in play will find these to be the best racquet for their game.

If you are an advanced player whose game requires a nice blend of power and control, you will find a Pure Strike model or two that is perfect for your tennis. Intermediate players who can win a match with just a few minor tweaks to their court placement will love this brand.

What About Junior Players?

Like all things tennis, Babolat racquets wants their brand in the hands of junior players. This company knows the value of getting juniors excited about their tennis racquets early on, so it is not hard to find models in all three series that are head light versions with the attractive paint schemes that kids (young and young at heart) want.

String Pattern

No surprises here with some pretty standard string spacing. The open string pattern in the Pure Drive is especially helpful for a control oriented tennis racquet swing.

Babolat Players on the Tour

Leading the pack of players is Rafael Nadal; winner of no fewer than 19 Grand Slams including 12 French Open titles, Olympic Gold Medalist, five-time Davis Cup winner, and winner of 85 ATP Tour titles. The emerging and potential future world number one player, Dominic Thiem who has played in three Grand Slam finals so far is another fan of Babolat.

Nadal has played with Pure Aero racquets throughout his whole career because of their power . Dominic Thiem plays with Babolat Pure Strike while Fabio Fognini plays with Babolat Pure Drive racquets.

Sofia Kenin leads the women pros, but it is notable that Kim Clijsters played with Babolat prior to her retirement from the tour.

Most pros want more weight in their tennis racquet often making them head heavy. The Babolat brand is sensitive to the pro's search for dominance on the court, so they make models that work best for them and for players who want a tennis racquet like that which the pros use.

Other Products

Babolat has now branched out into Padel, Badminton and offer shoes, balls and other gear. Professionals appreciate their superb stringing machines in addition to their signature natural gut and synthetic strings.

In addition, there is a grip size for just about everyone. Their replacement and overgrips are well respected and used on tennis racquets across many brands.

As a major presence at the French Open, fans will appreciate the depth and breadth of their dedication to the sport of tennis.

What About the Price of Babolat Racquet Brands?

A quality tennis racquet will often carry a premium price. But the price of Babolat quality is very competitive with a tennis racquet made by most manufacturers.

For some players, it is hard to determine which Babolat tennis racket is the best. Babolat Pure Aero, Babolat Pure Drive, and Babolat Pure Strike are among the most popular racquets among players all over the world.
