Skate Helmets

Helmets are now considered cool, not nerdy, and are a standard piece of equipment. A greater awareness of the short and long term implications of head injury has changed the perception for the betterment of all participants. Moreover, designs have evolved so that not only do they perform a vital function in protecting participants from injury, they also look modern. Multiple designs exist providing consumers with options for their choosing. Finding the right size is important so that it stays in place and does not obscure visibility.

3 Parts to a Skating Helmet

  1. The shell is the piece covering the head. Unlike helmets for other activities, the shell for skating should extend further down the back of the head. Almost as important as the protection it provides are the holes or vents in the shell. These provide much needed cooling.

  2. Padding is between the shell and the head. It absorbs the bulk of any impact.

  3. The straps keep the helmet in place and should be adjustable to fit snugly yet comfortably.

Protective Gear for Inline Skating

With specific items designed to protect wrists, elbows, and knees the importance of these cannot be overstated. Look for sets where designs are specifically created for left and right sides, include breathable mesh to keep you cool and may have different sizes or adjustable straps to fit many different users.

Wrist protection is especially critical given that the hands may be the first parts to hit the ground in the event of a spill. Knee protection consisting of a hard shell and soft padding should be adjustable so they stay in place without effort or constant tweaking.

Socks

While good looking socks have a fashion component for sure, they also perform an important function: prevention of blisters. Look for elastic to keep them in place, antimicrobial fibers absorbing perspiration so your skates won’t take on a funky smell and various sizes so that they won’t bunch up inside the skate.

With all of these accessories, really necessities, your friends at tennisracquets.com are here to outfit you so you can safely engage in the fun that comes with inline skating. It’s time to get started in a great low-impact workout called inline skating!
